Sean P. Avocato

Partner

Sean Avocato joined Taylor Porter as a Partner in 2023. His practice is focused on litigation, defending insurers and their insureds in a wide range of property and casualty disputes. Sean represents several national insurers in all aspects of litigation from suit through final judgment as well as in a pre-suit consulting, evaluation, and claims enforcement role. Sean’s areas of practice include insurance coverage disputes on personal and commercial lines of liability and uninsured motorist coverage and extra-contractual / “bad faith” claims.

Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Sean is a proud graduate of Catholic High School in 2007 and next from Louisiana State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science (Marketing) from the E.J. Ourso College of Business in 2011. Sean then went onto Mississippi College School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor with a Certificate of Civil Law Studies in 2014.

After graduating from law school, Sean had the privilege of serving as a two-term law clerk for the Honorable William A. Morvant in the 19th Judicial District Court in East Baton Rouge Parish. During this time, he developed a great appreciation and understanding of the practical application of Louisiana’s civil procedure rules that Sean now uses every day to strengthen his clients’ positions.

Upon conclusion of his clerkship, Sean went into private practice with a local insurance defense focused law firm as an associate in 2016. He became Partner immediately upon eligibility and practiced in that capacity up until joining on with Taylor Porter.

Sean enjoys spending time with his wife, Kristen, and their son, Samuel. They are parishioners of St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church in Baton Rouge. When not at work or chasing after his toddler, Sean is likely following the LSU Tigers or on the golf course.
